UCLA Student Food Co-op

UC Los Angeles

With the help of a $15,000 campus green fund grant, this student group has started a bulk buying club out of a church across the street from their campus. They also conduct educational workshops at The Hammer Museum near campus, and cater events on campus.

They eventually hope to establish a student-owned, cooperatively-run grocery on campus that provides the UCLA community with affordable food, produced both locally and sustainably. Their goal is to work for the people by the people, educating their community about the food economy and training students in sustainable business practices. Their mission is to “provide fresh, delicious, sustainable food for the UCLA community, celebrate the artistic and cultural vibrancy of our campus, and bring people together.”
