CoFED's Winter Appeal

Dear friend,

The end of the year is our favorite time to thank you—our supporters—for your continual belief in food justice and CoFED’s approach to achieving it. We also like to share the successes you’ve been so important to bringing about and hope that these student efforts will once again inspire you to make a contribution to CoFED. And if you do so today, your gift will be matched—doubling its value and impact for CoFED!

With your support, CoFED is building a world where food cooperatives heal our food system and build equitable local economies that are empowering and powerful! What we’re battling can look grim: 31% of college students must choose between buying food or paying tuition; 7 out of 10 of the lowest paying jobs in America are in the food industry; and 3 corporations alone control about 90% of outsourced food businesses on college campuses—effecting a vast supply chain of people, products, and services. But what CoFED accomplishes with your support brings hope to the next generation of young leaders committed to creating access to healthy food and community-owned wealth.

This past year thanks to you, we celebrated the opening of The Sonder Market at UNC-Chapel Hill in North Carolina and The Rad Dish at Temple University in Philadelphia. You made it possible for CoFED to reach 100 schools and engage a more diverse audience of community colleges, tribal colleges, and historically black universities. CoFED held its inaugural Summer Institute, a week-long intensive designed to equip teams with the tools and strategies necessary to create community-based food solutions in and around their campus. And the specialized curriculum manual from the Summer Institute can now be purchased at!

Please take a moment to review the 2014-2015 annual report to learn more about what you have helped CoFED to achieve in the past year. The students we work with are truly amazing, and we know they will fill you with hope and excitement for the future of our food systems.

Can you make a gift of $50 dollars or more today? Your impact will be doubled by our matching grant! An anonymous donor has agreed to grant CoFED a match if we can raise $5000 from this campaign! Help us exceed our $5000 goal, get that match, and start the New Year with amazing momentum!

Ways to give:

  • Give Online, or become an online monthly sustainer!—A one-time gift of $200 pays for the production and platform for 1 webinar of our year-long series, ensuring it always remains FREE to students. A $25 gift gives a needs assessment consultation to a coop. A monthly contribution of $75 pays for 12 hours of coveted technical assistance for our member teams.
  • Mail a check—Send a check made out to “CoFED” to our office at 2323 Broadway, Suite 223, Oakland CA 94612.
