CoFED inspiregizes future food co-op leaders across North America. We support students with training and tools, and connect them with peers, mentors, and allies in a solidarity network.

Santa Monica Community College

Student group founded in August of 2013, after meeting their Regional Organizer, Eric, at CSSC convergence in Berkeley. This brand new team is still exploring the possibilities of a student-run food service of some kind. Their group is well connected to the Center for Environmental and Urban Studies, and are near one of the few cooperative groceries in the Los Angeles area, Cooporunity in Santa Monica, so they have a lot of community support to pull from, as well as their student government and campus sustainability coordinator. They are currently focused on planning several events for the spring that will focus on food systems education and promoting the idea of a future food vendor run by students.
