California Coop Conference

This conference is hosted yearly by the California Center for Cooperative Development. The keynote speaker is Jessica Gordon Nembhard, author of Collective Courage: A History of African American Cooperative Economic Thought and Practice. This year, the Cooperative Youth Council and CoFED are co-hosting a youth caucus and hope to get as many youth cooperators there!

Give Local Day!

May 5th is Give Local Day, a 24-hour crowdfunding event designed to empower every person to give to their communities by supporting the organizations they trust to tackle today’s most critical issues.

This year, CoFED is participating in our local East Bay Gives in order to increase our scholarship fund to support students attend our Summer Institute! CoFED's Summer Institute is a week-long intensive training in July, designed to equip young leaders with the tools and strategies necessary to create community-based food solutions in or around their campus. This program is for idea-stage startups as well as existing co-ops seeking to grow and scale their enterprise.


CoFED's Summer Institute

CoFED's Summer Institute is a week-long intensive, designed to equip teams with the tools and training necessary to start work towards a community-based food solution in or around their campus. This program will be open to idea stage start-ups through existing co-ops seeking to refine or scale-up, and will create a supportive community to learn in and build cooperatives together!

The Summer Institute will take place in Oakland, California, and prioritize the availability of the selected cohort. Currently we are looking at either July 4-12th or July 15-23rd. Dates will be confirmed alongside with selected teams by April.

We will accept applicants on a rolling basis and applying early is encouraged. All teams accepted into the program will be notified by April 15th.
